We teach classes every weeknight at 6:30pm, and on weekends we have classes at 11:00am and 2:00pm. We frequently have an additional third class on weekends starting at 5:30pm and occasionally we offer a beginning level class on Fridays at 11:00am as well.
Each class is 2½ to 3 hrs per session, and the number of sessions varies between 1 and six sessions. For a class that is described as 9 hours (3 sessions), the class will meet for 3 consecutive weeks at the same time, ie Tuesday at 6:30pm for 3 weeks.
We schedule our classes in three month blocks, but we can't offer every class each time. While some are offered seasonally, we try to keep a good mix and variety. Beginning level classes are scheduled with a bit more frequency than our advanced level classes. If we haven't scheduled a class in the current group, there's a good chance it will be offered in the next one. Eventually we do have to retire classes to make room for new ones, and we try to offer a few new classes every six months.

Beginning Classes - 100 Level
Any 100 level class is a beginner level class. The basics of sewing are taught - tools, pinning, cutting, fabric anatomy, simple commercial patterns. We continue to introduce new techniques as the numbers get higher, allowing for a steady progression towards more complex projects. Intermediate Classes - 200 Level
Any 200 level class requires that you know how to set the sewing machine up on your own and that you can sew basic stitches with no instruction. You know how to lay a pattern out on your fabric and have made a few projects to your satisfaction. You are ready for some more advanced skills like interfacing, zippers, gathering & pleating, and you can't wait to get at those more difficult patterns!

Advanced Classes - 300 Level
Any 300 level class is considered advanced - your stitching must be straight and even and you know how to do more than the straight stitch and zig-zag on your own machine. These classes do not focus on the mechanics of sewing but rather on how to read more difficult (and usually quite fitted) patterns that include collars and set-in sleeves. We explore advanced skills like inter/underlining, patternmaking and couture construction techniques. More difficult fabrics are encouraged.
